Pantry Purge

Jump start your healthy lifestyle by cleaning out your pantry and fridge. Begin to figure out your relationship with food and ditch those items that are no good for you. We will review items one at a time and discuss why it is or is not a healthy choice. Learn which pantry items are appropriate for you and take the guess work out of what foods are healthy by putting the rest out of sight-out of mind.


Grocery Shopping

Take a trip to your everyday local grocery store with me and let me help you learn to shop smarter and healthier. I’ll teach you healthy shopping strategies, how to decipher labels, and what to avoid and what to look for in your food choices.  We’ll discuss the process of food packaging, where these foods come from and whether or not we should trust them, why we should choose organic options, and how to demystify label terminology (like synonyms for sugar, what all natural and natural flavors really mean, no added sugars, organic, low/no-fat, heart healthy, whole grain).  If you have never been to a “health food” store, a farmer’s market, local farms/orchards, or used health food delivery services I can help you navigate those as well.


Cooking Lessons

Learn how to cook healthy, properly prepared, nutrient dense food and how to build a healthy, satisfying plate of food for each meal. We’ll do this in the comfort of your own home with the tools you have on hand.  Know exactly what’s in your food (oils, sugars), know where it came from (organic, local), and learn what to avoid (certain oils, carcinogens). Gain confidence in knowing how to prepare healthy food that can be quick and easy, we meet at your level of experience – you don’t have to be a gourmet chef to make food at home, I’m a self-taught cook and make things as quick and easy on myself as I can.  I can help you learn how to cook food in bulk/batches, and how to use leftovers to prepare other meals.

 

Meal Planning

Learn how to plan and shop for your meals for a week, two weeks, or a month…whatever is convenient for you. This will help reduce your stress, save you time & money, and waste less food.  Learn how to cook in bulk and utilize leftovers for all meals.  I can also help you learn how to make better choices while dining out.
